Knowing a few generic components of display assembly helps you to understand as to which component is causing the problem if the laptop display starts malfunctioning.
Video cable: Video cable is the umbilical chord between the Motherboard and the LCD Screen and the screen receives the video signal from it through connector. Usually it is the video cable that supplies the required voltage for the FL inverter board as it is connected to the FL inverter board.
FL inverter board: FL inverter board performs the task of converting low voltage DC power to high voltage AC one, which is pivotal to light up the backlight bulb. If this board fails to perform, the LCD screen does not light up when you turn your laptop on. As a result of this, a very dim image may be displayed on your screen.
CCFL (backlight bulb): Backlight bulb is responsible for displaying images on your screen, when they light up. This bulb is a critical component of the LCD screen and when it starts malfunctioning; your entire screen may need to be replaced. Though in some cases backlight bulbs can also be replaced instead of the entire screen.
Lid close switch It is a small button located close to the back of display screen. Some models do not have this button as the switch is magnetic in such cases. When your screen is closed, you are able to set your laptop to go to standby or hibernation mode with the help of this magnetic switch. When you close the display, the lid close switch is pressed down and these standby or hibernation modes are triggered. As discussed earlier, you can check if this switch has stuck inside, if your laptop display does not light up.
